Sometimes, reptiles need something for the different times of the day or simply different conditions in order to thrive. One thing that can be is humidity. While there are products out there that can help you get the right humidity for your pet, they are sometimes out of one's budget and either a short term solution is needed or something needs to be made with materials closer at hand.
Items needed:
Solid enclosure (like a plastic container)
Moss or another substrate that can retain moisture
Sand Paper
Cutting Implement (Knife, Razor, etc.)
Step one
Take the plastic container and the knife. You will want to cut a hole the size of your pet near the bottom of the container. It should be able to easily climb in without any effort. This will also ensure that you will have an easy time cleaning it and changing out/wetting the substrate.
Step Two
Sand down the part that you cut open. You want it to be smooth so that your pet will not be cut while moving through/along it. This is more for the health and safety of your pet and ease of mind for you!
Step Three
Add in the substrate. You will want it simply damp. Enough that you can feel the water but not so much that your hand/finger is quite notable damped by simply touching it.
Your Hide Box is now ready to go and help your pet. Simply place it inside the enclosure and give it a little time to warm up. Turn it toward your pet and they now have a new place to relax.
